Prince Caspian

Took the youth group out to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian last night.

  • Not as good as The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, but still pretty good
  • Departed from the book quite a bit
  • Decent acting
  • Skips The Horse and His Boy
  • The last of Peter and Susan, at least for a long while
  • Reminds me of how great a storyteller C.S. Lewis was

Highlights of the night:

  • Happy Birthday again, Timmy!
  • “I’m a bear!”
  • Reepicheep rocks!!!
  • The church van
    • It’s a pimpin’ ride
    • Feel the horsepower
    • Strain to see the road
    • Keep it slow in the curves

Just go see it.

Yes, go see it. There are no real negatives.

i really liked the movie, and its been a while since i read the book but i don’t really remember any big changes from the movie except that night battle. I do love “The Horse and His Boy” but it would be really hard to tie in to a movie trilogy. And i think that “The Lion,The Witch, and The Wardrobe” is going to be hard to beat as a singular storyline. it has the most intense drama in the series, and is such a great, if unitentional, allegory.

Reepicheep IS amazing in the movie, i like how they made him more of an action hero in the movie because in the books i sort of remember him as more of a comedic distraction.

the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story better than i would have expected… i had heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not so much the case
