More Olympics news…

  • U.S. men swept the 400m hurdles – Angelo Taylor, gold; Kerron Clement, silver; Bershawn Jackson, bronze
  • In a sign of solidarity with their coach, the Croatian water polo team grew mustaches – it was oh-so-dirty awesome
  • Staying in the pool, the U.S. men’s water polo team pulled out a victory over Germany – the 9th ranked Americans won their preliminary group, beating the top-ranked Croats along the way
  • Nastia Liukin lost to China’s He Kexin in a tie-breaker decided by who got a higher execution score
  • Gold for America in women’s discus – Stephanie Brown Trafton tossed a metal frisbee 212.5 feet
  • U.S. softball heads to the semifinals after finishing preliminary play 7-0 – the American team has outscored opponents 53-1, thrown two no-hitters and has already beaten every team still competing
  • No-contest basketball – U.S. men over Germany 106-57
  • U.S. won equestrian team jumping gold – note the parallel between length of the write-up and world interest in equestrian sports
  • The Brazilian pair of Ricardo and Emanuel took only two sets to defeat Sean Rosenthal and Jake Gibb, crushing their hopes of meeting Dalhausser and Rogers (the other American team) in the finals of men’s beach volleyball
  • American women’s soccer advanced to the finals after beating Japan 4-2 – Brazil vs. U.S.A in a rematch of the Athens finals

i haven’t seen hardly any of the olympics.
so this is helpful.
